movie: the prestige
The Prestige starring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman, is a crazy movie...
Bale and Jackman are both magicians who experience a tragedy while performing one of their magic acts. Jackman's character becomes crazed and believes it is Bale's fault. From here they both are always trying to compete against each other as to who is the better magician. One day Bale introduces his greatest trick of all "the transporting man" and Jackman's character becomes obssessed about finding out how he does this trick. As things progress, things get crazy as to how Jackman tries to mimic Bale's amazing trick.
This movie has an interesting story and is pretty interseting to follow as you want to know and are waiting throughout the movie to see what is going on. The anticipation it creates from the unknowning (how Bale actually performs the trick, how Jackman tries to mimic the trick, and other things, but I do not want to give any spoilers) helps keep you very interested and awaiting more of the movie to develop.
Performances were pretty solid. Bale is good as usual, actually, he seems to be getting better and more diverse from when I first saw him 8-9 years ago, so that is cool since he is becoming one of my new favorite actors. Jackman was solid as well, nothing to complain about.
I definately recommend this movie, it is probably even a good date movie, as it will create conversion afterwards. Rating: 4/5
