Associating Music / A song to a person?

I find this interesting. I go through periods of time when I will continuously just listen to one album or artist and during this period I will have some sort of revalation to one of the songs relating to another person. For example, there was a NIN song that I was obsessed with for a long time and just kept listening to it over and over again (it was off the Downward Spiral album) and at one point it just came to me, that it reminded me of this girl (that looked like the preppy chick from Sex and the City) in my senior high school Spanish class. So everytime I listen to that song I get the image of that girl in my head and that is what the song reminds me of mentally. A weird association.

This not happen very often, it has happened before with a MF Doom song of the Mad Villiany album. And recently it has happened with the Fugees album The Score and the song Manifest/Outro. What is even more particular is all the associations have been people and more specifically female. My theory is this happens when a female (or human) somehow has a strong presense in my life. But how I associate a certain song to that certain person is beyond me, maybe it is random...maybe it is not...I am leaning towards not. Anyway I found this interesting.
