movie: the hills have eyes / Game: settlers of catan
Today I decided to go see a movie that looked like it might have been scary. Honestely, I am not a big horror movie fan, because frankly I think most horror movies are not good. Not well made, bad screen play, badly directed etc. One horror movie that I thought was really good was the Shinning, but I might be biased since Kubrick is one of my favorite directors. So, back to The Hills Have Eyes. I enjoyed the movie and thought it was entertaining but is really wasn't a good movie.
My only complaint was that it started off a little slow, it did not get really interesting untill about half way through the movie, but after the halfway mark it was quite exciting. Since I not a horror movie buff I do not know if I should recommend it or not...if you have money to spare...why not? I'll leave it up to you =)
On to the game of Settlers of Catan. Been playing this game recently, you can check out this website if you want to play it (it is free) http://www.s3dconnector.net and today I realize how much luck dependent this game is. I would venture to say that 30%-50% of the game is luck. I had the meanest losing streak of Settlers ever today. I lost 8 games in a row ALL do to dice. One game I had control of 9 out of 12 numbers with 1 resource card away from winning and could not get that resources card for the life of me. I could not even trade to the bank for anything. This happend for 5 ROUNDS!!! In the mean time someone else won. All the players commented on the game saying that it was rediculous that I could not win.
Regardless, the game is still fun, I think it is luck factor (like slot machine action in vegas) that keeps the game interesting and keeps you wanting to come back for more. Ahhh I think that is about it for today!
